Validity of membership
Membership is valid for 365 days from the date of purchase and is purely personal. A change of vehicle is therefore possible without any problems. It is sufficient if one person per motorhome or pitch has a valid membership.
The membership card is digitally integrated into the app and must be presented independently upon arrival at the farm.
How do the companies earn money?
Through camping travellers as new customers for their farm shop, gastronomy or other offers from the farm.
Please note:
The annual membership fee does not mean that the seats are already paid for. We use the membership fee to finance the development of the app, the further expansion of our network and our personal support. As a team of 7, we invest a lot of time and passion in Schau aufs Land.
Therefore, please value the places at our partner companies and show your appreciation for them. Only in this way can we all ensure that this type of travel and a concept based on appreciation and voluntarism can continue to exist for a long time to come.
What does membership cost and how long is it valid?

Membership is always valid for 365 days and is available via our website as a one-off payment and as an annual subscription. With a subscription, membership is renewed for a further year after expiry. However, you can cancel it at any time. After cancellation, your membership is valid until the end of the respective term (at least 365 days).
A membership that has been activated with an access code automatically expires one year after activation.
Is there a cancellation period for my subscription?
No, you can cancel your membership at any time. After cancellation, you will continue to have full access to the platform/app for the remaining period.
How can I manage my membership?

Am I obliged to buy their products from the farms?
Morally, yes: the concept depends on people taking an interest in the products and offerings of the farms and showing their appreciation by consuming them.
For orientation: An adequate parking space costs 15-25€.
Show your appreciation for the hospitality by making a purchase or supporting a farm project.
In addition to a free parking space, you get sustainable food produced with love and an insight into where it actually comes from - a win-win situation.
Are there certain rules to follow?
We have created a Code of conduct written. We have summarised the most important rules there. We ask you to observe and respect them.
Why is (South) Tyrol so empty?
In (South) Tyrol, unfortunately, the strict camping law stands in our way and fundamentally prohibits any camping outside of campsites - thus also the concept behind Schau aufs Land.
The only possibility is for the business to get an exemption from its municipality, which unfortunately is not that easy.
Is it also possible to use the site with a caravan?
Yes, almost all of our partner businesses also offer places for caravans! For more detailed information on whether and what kind of "motorhome" can be accommodated at the establishments, please visit the information page of our participating establishments.
Do I have to be self-sufficient with my motorhome/caravan?
In order to have the opportunity to visit all participating farms, we recommend a self-sufficient motorhome - this includes at least a toilet and fresh water with waste water tank on board.
However, many of our participating establishments also offer the possibility to use a toilet or shower on site. With the help of our filters (e.g. "usable without WC on board", "tent", etc.) you can search for establishments that also welcome non-self-sufficient travellers.
Are tents also allowed?
Yes, far more than half of the hosts also offer you a place for your tent. However, as access to a toilet must be possible in any case, the possibility of an overnight stay with a tent depends on the infrastructure and the consent of the respective establishment.

Can I book or reserve my stay?
There are two ways to request a place and reserve it for you.

Can I stay longer than 24 hours?
Unfortunately no, due to legal conditions you cannot stay longer than 24 hours at the same company. But you are welcome to visit the company as often as you like within the framework of your membership!
However, this also ensures that the seats are not all permanently occupied and that you can be sure to find a free seat for yourself on your trip.
Do the farms also have camping infrastructure?
Basically, our concept does not include a range of services. The farms offer a simple space on their property.
But many of our participating businesses also voluntarily offer services such as toilet, shower, access to fresh water, electricity or WLAN. In most cases, a small fee of a few euros is charged for these services. Whether and which services are offered can be seen directly on the information page of the respective farm.
Please bear in mind, however, that you are on a farm and not on a campsite, and therefore such services are really only a purely voluntary additional offer.
Are dogs welcome?
Dogs are also welcome at many of our participating establishments. Nevertheless, we ask you to always announce this in advance and to ask whether there are certain rules to be observed. You can also find out whether dogs are welcome at the establishments directly on the information page of our participating establishments.
Can I also visit the pitches with a roof tent?
Absolutely! What is more important for an unrestricted visit to all establishments is whether you are self-sufficient with your own toilet and fresh water including a closed waste water tank.
However, some of our participating establishments also offer the possibility to use a toilet or shower on site. At these establishments it is also possible to visit without a toilet. With the help of symbols on the information page of our establishments, you will immediately recognise which additional services are available there.
How much contact do I have with the host?
Please note and respect that our farmers are often very busy, especially during the peak season. Therefore, depending on the size of the farm and the workload, personal contact can vary from a short friendly greeting to a personal farm tour.
What about local/curtail tax?
Je nach geltenden geseztlichen Vorgaben in unterschiedlichen Bundesländern kann vor Ort die Abgabe einer entsprechenden Taxe erforderlich sein. Bitte erkundige dich bei deinem Aufenthalt am Hof einfach direkt danach.
Wichtig ist zu wissen, dass diese Abgaben dem Tourismus zukommen und entsprechend auch dir als Campinggast zu Gute kommen.
Can I empty my grey and black water during operation?
This is not possible at our participating businesses. We kindly ask you not to use the toilets of the participating establishments for this purpose. Soon you will find a list of service stations in Austria on our platform. We ask you to use these for disposal.
What criteria do you use to select your participating companies?
Nachhaltigkeit – und vor allem die Schaffung von Bewusstsein für Bio – steht bei uns im Vordergrund. Deshalb fragen wir bei der Anmeldung gezielt nach bestimmten Aspekten nachhaltigen Wirtschaftens. Eine Bio-Zertifizierung ist dafür nicht erforderlich.
Wichtig ist uns, dass zumindest eines der folgenden Kriterien erfüllt wird:
- No use of chemical-synthetic pesticides & fertilizers
- Möglichst geschlossene Nährstoffkreisläufe
- Eine artgerechte Tierhaltung (mindestens nach EU-Bio-Richtlinien)
- Für gastronomische Betriebe: Fokus auf ökologische, regionale & saisonale Lebensmittel
Zusätzlich können Betriebe beschreiben, wie Nachhaltigkeit bei ihnen konkret umgesetzt wird oder welche Maßnahmen sie dafür in Zukunft planen.
Viele unserer Mitglieder – und auch wir selbst – legen großen Wert auf biologische Lebensmittel und nachhaltigen Konsum. Gerade deshalb möchten wir auch Menschen ansprechen, die bisher wenig Berührungspunkte mit diesen Themen hatten – und hier gezielt Bewusstsein schaffen. Denn echte Veränderung braucht Offenheit und Dialog.
Da wir als kleines Team nicht jeden Hof persönlich prüfen können, freuen wir uns, wenn Reisende offen für Gespräche sind und ihre Eindrücke auch über unser Feedback-Formular teilen – ganz im Sinne von gelebter Transparenz.
