Welcome to camping
Your hosts & hostesses
Like visiting friends. The private pitches are offered by farmers who are happy to welcome new guests. Our goal is an appreciative exchange between travellers and farmers.
What does sustainable mean?
Organic & more
For us, sustainable means suitable for grandchildren. And in the spirit of a future fit for grandchildren, our participating farms pay particular attention to the welfare of their animals, to keeping the soil alive and fertile in a natural way and to providing a habitat for insects and pollinators through rich biodiversity.
And with Schau aufs Land you can get to know the people behind it.
Our criteria
To participate in Schau aufs Land Austria, our partner businesses must agree to our catalogue of criteria for sustainable management. This includes the following points:
- No use of chemical-synthetic pesticides & fertilizers
- Closed nutrient cycles as far as possible
- Species-appropriate animal husbandry (at least according to EU organic guidelines)
- Businesses in hospitality:
When purchasing the food on offer, attention is paid to organic, regional and seasonal production.
Additionally, each business can shortly describe how and with which measures the topic of sustainability is integrated in their business.
Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to act as a control body ourselves and personally check all businesses before they are activated. We are therefore delighted when travellers themselves are interested in the farming practices of our partner farms and the topic of sustainability and are happy to ask critical questions. This often leads to interesting and informative conversations as well as new perspectives on the topic of agriculture and sustainability.
